COURSE DESCRIPTION:

In this discussion led by Jeff Joseph, CEO of SIIA, learn how associations use recognition events to promote membership engagement. The most successful award programs are tied to driving the strategic initiatives of the association.  The least successful awards programs are those that are poorly promoted, lack lustre, and are organized at the last minute, typically not tied to any larger strategic goal of the association.
What are some of the best strategies for small vs. large associations.  How can recognition events be used to encourage engagement among younger demographic age groups. Gain insight into different recognition types such as alumni awards, employee awards, Lifetime achievement awards, Hall of Fame awards, Innovation or special ability awards.   For associations build on Chapter model, learn about how recognition events are used to promote greater engagement and innovation among the Chapters.  In this course, we will also learn about issues around lack of a sufficient number of nominees or candidates and what to do in those circumstances.   What “gottchas” could potentially cause a PR nightmare for your association when it comes to awards events?
Finally, this course will cover some of the latest software technologies that are used by associations to support the awards event program (e.g., nomination process, selection process, etc.
