CPE Compliance Disclosure:

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

The system that holds member data shapes what an association can do with it. For decades, that system was a purpose-built AMS. Today, more associations are building directly on a CRM instead, trading some out-of-the-box association functionality for flexibility and a fuller view of every relationship. Behind that choice sits a second one: rely on an all-in-one platform, or build a best-of-need ecosystem. In this session, association executives who chose differently share what prompted the question, which options they weighed, and what tipped the balance. Through executive-level discussion, the session examines how data ownership, contract timing, staff capacity, and mission shape both decisions.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand the strategic trade-offs between a purpose-built AMS and building directly on a CRM
  • Learn how all-in-one and best-of-need approaches compare across data ownership, contract timing, staff capacity, and mission
  • Identify leadership actions that set a clear path forward, whichever platform and approach the organization chooses
